Ceiling Light Upgrade
A chandelier can completely change the look and feel of a room. It adds elegance, warmth, and that “wow” factor every home deserves. Recently, I decided to upgrade an old ceiling light and fit a new chandelier.
Before doing anything, always switch off the power at the fuse box. Safety comes first with any electrical work. I began by removing the old light fitting and checking the ceiling wiring with a voltage tester to make sure there was no live current.
Because chandeliers can be heavier than standard lights, I checked that the ceiling hook and junction box were strong enough to take the weight. If you’re unsure, a reinforced hook or bracket fixed into a ceiling joist is the safest option.
After assembling the chandelier on the floor, I carefully connected the wires:
Brown (Live) → L
Blue (Neutral) → N
Green/Yellow (Earth) → E
Once all the connections were secure, I mounted the fitting.
The canopy was then pushed up neatly to cover the wiring, ready for the big switch-on moment.
When the power went back on, the difference was instant. The chandelier brightened the room beautifully and created a warm, elegant atmosphere. It’s amazing how one lighting upgrade can make such a big impact.
OH! REMEMBER always turn off power at the main fuse before starting.

Replacing Old Post and Wayne Fence Panels
This week, we replaced old, rotten Wayne fence panels and posts that had finally given up after years of weather damage.
The client went for the less wallet endangering option and decided to keep the old spurs, which were a bit out and saved us on time and resources
Once I pulled the old ones out and set in a few new posts, the fresh panels went up smoothly, kind of if the posts were straight!
Trellis was added to one for a bit of privacy
It’s made a huge difference , the garden now feels neat, secure, and refreshed. Well worth the effort and money!
